The Junia Company/Ann's House

THIS WEEK'S HIGHLIGHT
This week's spotlight shines on The Junia Company, one of our new vendors.  The Junia Company provides supports for many people in need of some extra help.  According to their website, the mission and purpose of Junia is to

restore and empower vision ...for life! We work with individuals, churches, businesses and social service organizations providing unique and proven training programs and services dedicated to restoring and empowering vision.

·        We serve women and men, children and teen girls through Fresh Start Life Seminars©, Thriving in Life Curriculum, Divine Divas, and Leaders Advance Classes.

·        We serve homeless, health challenged women and children through Ann’s House for women providing empowerment housing while teaching them how to thrive, not just survive. We provide assistance with housing, employment, parenting skills, computer skills, self-development and garden.

Gardening on the property of Ann's House not only teaches residents the skills involved in growing healthy food, they are also able to sell their healthy and delicious food items at our market.  We hope you will stop by their booth and purchase their wares.

Because The Junia Company is a non profit organization, you may also make tax deductible donations.  They will greatly appreciate donations of any amount.

                                                                                                                                                SEASONAL & CHANGING PRODUCTS/ITEMS
We are continuing to see plentiful produce at market.  You will see kale, okra, beets, squash, noodle beans, winter squash, lots and LOTS of heirloom tomatoes, and other surprises from Nature's Bounty.

If you would like to Eat Well year round, now is a great time to put food up for the winter.  It doesn't have to be a huge, time consuming or difficult production.  You can simply incorporate it into your evening meal preparation.  For example:  if you are sauteing zucchini or other summer squash for dinner, slice a couple extra squash, place them in a single layer on a cookie sheet and put it in the freezer.  A few hours later the slices will be frozen and ready for you to slip them into a freezer safe container for storage.  Think yummy veggie soup on  a cold winter evening.

This is only one idea of how to put food up for the winter.  To learn other simple, quick, and easy ways you can Eat Well year round you are invited to stop by the Market Management Booth and we will be glad to chat with you further.  Also, if you would like to share your tips for Eating Well year round please email us and we will include your ideas in the newsletter.  Our email address is LEWFMLOCAL@GMAIL.COM
