THIS WEEK'S HIGHLIGHT
Time to sign up for the Eating Seasonally CSA.
Are you thinking about what you plan to fix for dinner - this Summer? Well, your farmers are and they need to hear from you. Although the picture above looks as though nothing is going on at the farm, the opposite is true. The folks at the Romans Family Farm have been busy making preparations for an abundant harvest this coming season, including protecting some plants and fruiting shrubs with straw bales. And because of the preparations they did in the fall, the soil under the snow is already nutrient rich and awaiting the seeds that will become your food. Obtaining your food from the Romans Family Farm includes a huge bonus: They grow all this great food for you, using no synthetic chemicals.
The Romans are also currently perusing the seed catalogs, deciding what seeds and in what quantity to order. To ensure they order the correct amount, not too little as to run out of your favorite produce items and not too many as to have produce going to waste, they rely on knowing in advance what you, their customers, want. This means it's that time again: time to sign up for the Eating Seasonally CSA.
There are so many advantages to belonging to a CSA, for the consumer, the farmer, and the Earth. If you are new to the concept of a CSA an internet search will provide you with a plethora of information. To learn more about the Romans Family Farm Eating Seasonally CSA or to sign up (while space is still available) visit the Eating Seasonally CSA Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Eating-Seasonally-CSA/176990062341129
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Because there are still some loose ends to tie up at the time of this writing, we are not quite ready to make the full announcement; however, we are expecting a new vendor starting this Friday, one that will be offering food items that our customers have been requesting for some time. So, be sure to check the Market's Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/lewfm.org later this week to get updates on the great news.

Learning to Live Sustainably (L2LS), the vendor who sells the bread, local honey, and olive oil has recently expanded their line. They are now selling an array of practical as well as pretty knitted items. All items are locally produced by Sustainable Stitches. Stop by the L2LS booth on Friday to check out their bottle cozies, bottle carries, and tea cozies. Sustainable
Stitches also does special orders for that one of a kind item. Rumor has it that they will soon be offering
knitted market bags too - yet another great way to
live a more sustainable life.

At the beginning of the winter market we made some changes in the way we are holding market. This
Friday Jan. 17 (3:00 - 6:00) will be what we are calling a Regular Market Day, while
the following Friday Jan. 24 (4:00 - 6:00) will be what we are calling Pre-order Pick
Up Day. To help everyone easily adjust to the changes, we offer the
following check list of what to do at market this week:
Please note the new time of the Regular Winter Market Days is 3:00 until 6:00 P.M.
For complete Dates & Details about the entire 2013-2014 Winter Market click here.
- Purchase all your food and non food items as you regularly do from the full line up of vendors who will be present this Friday.
- Place your pre-orders with the two vendors who will be participating in the Pre-order Market Days. Please note that you will be required to pay for your items at time of ordering, at which time you will receive a receipt for your pre-order. We even made it easy to locate these vendors by placing them side by side at the beginning of the market space.
