This week we are highlighting Green GRRRL Wisdom, aka, Karen Blocher. When Karen first started at our market we referred to her as The Tea Lady, because tea was the main focus of her offerings. That soon changed as she expanded her line to include her handmade soaps, essential oils, and other body care products. Ever interested in supplying more synthetic chemical free products for her customers, Karen will have additional new items this week and in the next few weeks. She offered the following to inform her customers about what she has in store for them.
We encourage our vendors to use local sources for the ingredients in their products. As you can see, Karen takes that to heart, using milk from another vendor's goats and Jewelweed from her mother's property. Karen, a Certified Herbalist, is quite knowledgeable about plants in the wild that are safe for humans to use. If you have questions Karen will be glad to share her knowledge with you.
I have a new soap to feature this week, Goat Milk Oatmeal & Honey. The goat milk is from Ame's / Fox Run Farm's goats. I will also have more of the Alkanet Lavender soap bar. They're both slightly bigger...Goat Milk Oatmeal & Honey bars are around 6 ounces for $4.99, and the Alkanet Lavender bars are over 5 ounces for $4.99.
Also, I'm working on a First Aid line that I hope to have most of (3 out of 4) for this Friday's market. There's a Bug Repellant, a First Aid Salve, a Jewelweed Spray (for poison ivy/oak), and (in a month) a Jewelweed Poison Ivy/Oak Soap. The jewelweed is from my mother's property, so it's fresh and wild harvested.

Barters' Corner Do you have a skill or talent that you could teach to others? Perhaps you know how to grow your own food, or how to preserve the abundance of summer produce and could share that knowledge with others. Maybe you have extra gardening tools, or canning or other food related equipment you are willing to share. You can put your skills and/or unused equipment to good use by bartering with others who want what you have and have what you want.
If you wish to participate in the Barters' Corner email us at lewfmlocal@gmail.com.

BARTERS' CORNER UPDATE
Our first response to the Barters' Corner Bright Idea came from a person who said:
My passion in life is sustainable living with includes gardening, homesteading etc. So I have been learning tons about that. I know how to fix computers and have worked in the IT field for years. As for what I need, anything to do with gardening and homesteading. This sounds like a great opportunity for folks to connect with one another and share skills. If you have gardening skills and need IT help and would like to connect with this person you may email us and we will forward your info. Or if you have other skills or items you would like to barter, email us and we will add you to our Barters' Corner. Email us at lewfmlocal@gmail.com
