This week's newsletter focuses on the Extra Special Events happening at market this week as we celebrate National Farmers' Market Week.  As the schedule of events details, there are many special attractions, with something for everyone of all ages.

While at market this week, be sure to stop by the Market Management Booth for your free raffle ticket.  At the end of market there will be a drawing for prizes that have been donated by area businesses.  You do not need to be present to win.

We hope you will invite your neighbors, friends, and family to attend market this week to support all our weekly vendors, and our special guest vendors.  And, to further advertise our celebration of National Farmers' Market Week you can view and share our YouTube video at

 EXTRA SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

Billboards located throughout Greater Cincinnati

We are thrilled to announce that The Green Umbrella Local Food Action Team has chosen Lettuce Eat Well Farmers' Market as their venue to unveil to Cincinnati's Westside the Green Umbrella Local Food 10% Shift Campaign.

Members of the Green Umbrella Local Food Action Team will be at market this Friday giving several presentations about this important program.  They will remain with us throughout the entire market time Friday.  Thank you Green Umbrella Local Food Action Team for being extra special guests, helping us celebrate National Farmers' Market Week in a really big way!

SPECIAL PROMO THIS WEEK ONLY
If you have not yet purchased your Lettuce Eat Well Farmers' Market insulated market bag, procrastination has paid off.  But don't wait too long because this special offer lasts only one day, August 10.

These insulated market bags, with reinforced bottoms and zippered tops, are reasonably priced at $7.00; however, this Friday only, you will also receive $5.00 in Market Bucks that you can spend at any of our market vendor booths.  With this deal, you're actually getting the bags for only $2.00 each.  Offer valid to first 50 purchasers.

We take this opportunity to again thank all involved in the We Thrive grant that provided the funds for LEWFM to purchase the bags.

KIDS & KRAFTS

Kids who are regulars at our market quickly find their way to The Kids & Krafts Booth, where they have loads of fun with Charles Purdue, which allows their parents to leisurely shop the market.  For those of you who have kids who are new to the market we invite them to check out all the great fun that awaits them in The Kids & Krafts Booth.

This week we have an extra special gift for the kids.  Thanks to the generous donation of the author, Jan Wolterman, each child will receive a free copy of  Munch Crunch Bunch.

READY MADE FOODS
This week we will have a guest vendor as our Ready Made Food Vendor.  C'est Cheese, purveyor of the ultimate in Unique Gourmet Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, will be providing market customers with numerous choices, from the mild to the waaay hot, and many in between.  So, just tell them what you like and they will make it to order.

While C'est Cheese's offerings this week will be on the lighter side, their full menu also includes soups.  Given how hot the weather has been we thought holding off on the soups for awhile would be a good idea.  The previous statement would indicate that C'est Cheese is interested in returning to LEWFM at some future time.  So, if you like what they offer this week, be sure to let them know that you would like them to become a return attraction.

NOTICES
  • Mohr Animal Acres and Grilling By Logan will not be at market this week, as they will be at their county fair.  They will be at market on August 17, until 6:30.
  • Skirtz & Johnston Breads will not be at market during the month of August.  They will return in September.

SEASONAL & CHANGING PRODUCTS/ITEMS
Even though the growing conditions have been quite challenging this summer, our Produce Farmers continue to stay the course, and we are the beneficiaries of their labors.  We wish to thank them for all their efforts to continue to supply us with plentiful produce.  Other than picking them from your back yard, you can't obtain fresher or more nutritious and flavorful produce than what our vendors bring to market.

This week the heirloom tomatoes continue to arrive at market in abundant quantities.  You will also see tomatillos, bell peppers, hot peppers, garlic, beans, Swiss chard, beets, ground cherries, and numerous other produce items just waiting for you to take them home and enjoy.  It's always fun to see what other last minute surprises our vendors find when they harvest on Friday mornings just before leaving for market.

Tomatoes are available this week by the half bushel for $25.  Pre order them by calling (812) 233-7990.

For a listing of seasonal produce, visit CORV's Website.
