THIS WEEK'S HIGHLIGHT
Rather than reinvent the wheel, this week we are highlighting articles seen recently in the Western Hills Press and the Price Hill Press.  We wish to publicly thank Monica Boylson for the great press coverage.  Monica visited the market a few weeks ago and did a great job of highlighting the market and the vendors.  Thanks, Monica, we appreciate the press coverage; and, you get bonus points for coming out on a 100+ degree day.

Huge thanks also goes out to Sharon Holzschuh, a loyal customer  and great supporter of LEWFM.  It is through Sharon contacting the local press that we were able to receive such great media coverage.

To read Monica's article and view the market pictures she included in the Western Hills Press go to http://news.cincinnati.com/article/C2/20120710/NEWS05/307100003/Cheviot-market-promotes-living-local?odyssey=mod_sectionstories

 RECENTLY ADDED ITEM
SUMMUH HUMMUS, homemade by Chef Ethan Snider.  For those who have already tried Ethan's delicious hummus you are likely already "hooked."  If you have not yet tasted this yummy delight, you are in for a real treat.

Not only are the ingredients top quality, the names Ethan has chosen for each hummus style dip adds to the uniqueness of the product.  You are invited to stop by his booth to sample for yourself.  Only problem might be deciding which one/s to purchase.

SEASONAL & CHANGING PRODUCTS/ITEMS
Our Produce Vendors plan to harvest the following items for market this week:
many varieties of heirloom tomatoes, along with slicing onions, Swiss chard, noodle beans, beets, okra, cucumbers, eggplant, peppers, zucchini, summer squash, kohlrabi, ground cherries, and many other produce items.  There might also be some spaghetti squash and melon for the first time this season.  Mother Nature's harvest cannot be perfectly timed, so come to market ready to be pleasantly surprised to see what each of the vendors have gleaned from their labors in the fields.  We suggest you plan your meal menus at the market around what is available each week.

Canning tomatoes are still available for $25 half bushel, or $20 for CSA members.  Pre order by calling (812) 233-7990.

And remember, all produce sold at our market is grown using no synthetic chemicals.

In addition to veggies, the vendors also bring herbs, both cut and potted; and a variety of beautiful potted plant arrangements, along with gorgeous cut flowers to add splashes of beauty to your home or to give as gifts.

For a full listing of seasonal produce, visit CORV's Website.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
"I beg you to remember that cheap food is a stinker of a lie because of its "hidden costs":  the cost to your health (from hormones, pesticides, trans fats, and so on) and the cost to the planet (from pesticides, pollution, etc)."

from Eat Where You Live by Lou Bendrick

Please share this newsletter with friends and family to help spread the word about LEWFM!
We hope to see you real soon at Lettuce Eat Well Farmers' Market, held each Friday 3:00 - 7:00 p.m.
