Some customers have asked us when we will be moving back to Harvest Home Park; therefore, we realize that not everyone has been made aware that we will be staying at Cheviot United Methodist Church throughout the summer. Please help us spread the word about the market's correct location!
While the market's year round location is Cheviot United Methodist Church 3820 Westwood Northern Blvd. 45211, the location at the church varies depending on other activities at the church and depending on the weather (sunny and warm, we're outside; stormy or cold, we're inside). Just follow the happy voices and you'll find us.

Reidel's Urban Farm |
This week's spotlight shines on Reidel's Urban Farm. This multigenerational farm, located on Enright Ave. in Price Hill, is one of the most tranquil places in the city, as evidenced by the picture above (which shows only a small portion of the entire growing area). Even in the midst of the tranquilness much is abuzz. Both human and critter activity takes place on this "small" urban farm. While the space on urban farms is small, relative to large rural farms, the Reidels, using permaculture practices, glean a bountiful harvest from their land.
Father/son/daughter-in-law, along with two grandchildren make up Reidel's Urban Farm. Living next door to one another, they combined their two backyards (and now even their front yards) in order to double their growing area. While the grandchildren are too young to take on all the chores on the farm, they certainly add an element of charm to our market each Friday. We love seeing the next generation of farmers at market each week, knowing that they offer us hope for another generation of land lovers who will be good stewards of the earth. You can enjoy the fruits - and vegetables - of Reidel's Urban Farm by stopping by their booth each week to purchase their seasonal offerings.

SUMMER OF SUSTAINABILITY
We carry on our theme of great things happening on Enright Ave. by welcoming Imago to our market this week as one of our Special Guest Vendors. Located at 700 Enright, Imago has for over 30 years "featured innovative programs and solutions designed to help reconnect people and the planet." The folks from Imago will be at market this week sharing useful information about composting. If you are aware of the importance of composting and yet don't know how to even begin the process, help is on the way. Not only will you learn the basics of outdoor composting, Imago staff members will also demonstrate how to do vermacomposting, which can be done inside (with no offensive odors).
While compost can be used to feed your garden, your garden will also need watering, especially this summer when rain will likely be more scarce. This week you can learn all about rain barrels, how to install one at your own home, and even purchase one right at our market. Patrick Janszen of Save the Rain Drops will be one of our Special Guest Vendors. Patrick will answer all your questions and help you take that next step in making your home more environmentally friendly through saving that precious resource, water. While we've been having loads of rain this spring, we know from past experience that the summer can sometimes be quite dry. So now's the time to take measures to be prepared for the possible drier times ahead.

To round out this week's super lineup of Special Guests, we welcome Sweet Jones, a Roots-Rock and Americana husband and wife musical group visiting from New Orleans. They will feed our souls with their wonderful music, and we all know how the addition of music helps to enliven any occasion. We are really fortunate to be on this group's tour as they make their way throughout this part of the country. You can learn more about them and view their itinerary here.
As you can see, this week's market is stacking up to be quite a happening place. And remember, the market is held rain or shine. While we have ordered dry conditions for this Friday, if our order doesn't come through, we will hold market inside. We offer continued thanks to the folks of Cheviot United Methodist Church for allowing the market to use their space, inside and out!
NOTICES
While some of you are long-time readers of the newsletter, people who are new to the market are reading the newsletter for the first time; therefore, the Reminders section is included each week so new folks can see what's happening around the market and around town.
