Newsletter for Friday August 2, 2013

Some customers have asked us when we will be moving back to Harvest Home Park; therefore, we realize that not everyone has been made aware that we will be staying at Cheviot United Methodist Church throughout the summer.  Please help us spread the word about the market's correct location!

While the market's year round location is Cheviot United Methodist Church 3820 Westwood Northern Blvd. 45211, the location at the church varies depending on other activities at the church and depending on the weather (sunny and warm, we're outside; stormy or cold, we're inside).  Just follow the happy voices and you'll find us.

THIS WEEK'S HIGHLIGHT
Again this week we continue to highlight our happy customers.  Pictured above are the first customers to purchase the most recently added item:  CHEESE.  In last week's newsletter we told you that new items were soon to be unveiled.  We are thrilled to announce that  Jenny of Angela's Homemade Pies is now selling Kenny's Farmhouse Cheese.  Kenny's Farmhouse Cheese is an aged raw milk cheese handcrafted in Austin, Kentucky by Kenny Mattingly, his family, and farmhands.

The milk from which they make the cheeses comes from their own cows.  Kenny indicated that their day starts at about 4:30 a.m.  Yes, cows "get up" early.  This is a very labor intensive way to make cheese, which shows in the end result.  Last week's customers obviously think so also, as Jenny sold out of cheese near the end of market.   She was thrilled with the response of the customers and plans to have a much larger supply of cheese this week.  If you don't see your favorite cheese, ask Jenny if Kenny makes it.  Jenny likes to "take orders" and does so with a smile.  We love you, Jenny!  Jenny is, of course, still making all the yummy baked goods our customers (from the youngest to the oldest) love.

RECENTLY re ADDED ITEM
All you honey lovers, take heart:  Honey will be returning to market beginning this Friday.  The local honey is from Bee Haven.  Look for the honey at our newest vendor booth, Learning to Live Sustainably, which will be located next to the Market Management booth.  More info about the new vendor will be in a future newsletter.

For a full listing of our vendors and their products, check out our Vendors.

REMINDERS
While some of you are long-time readers of the newsletter, people who are new to the market are reading the newsletter for the first time; therefore, the Reminders section is included each week so new folks can see what's happening around the market and around town.

I Love My Farmers' Market Celebration marks the fifth year American Farmland Trust has hosted a summer-long event to honor our nation's hardworking family farmers and to raise the national awareness about our bountiful farmers' markets.  The celebration encourages consumers to pledge to support family farmers by making at least $10 of their food purchases each week at their farmers' market.  Already spend more than that at the farmers' market?  How about increasing your weekly purchase by an additional $10?  In addition, you are invited to stop by the market management booth for details about how you can enter to win a market bag filled with market goodies, along with $10 in Market Bucks.  You can also pledge your support for your favorite farmers' market (and we sure hope it's LEWFM) at the Love My Farmers' Market website lovemyfarmersmarket.org
