Newsletter for Friday October 18, 2013

While the market's year round location is Cheviot United Methodist Church 3820 Westwood Northern Blvd. 45211, the location at the church varies depending on other activities at the church and depending on the weather (sunny and warm, we're outside; stormy or cold, we're inside).  Just follow the happy voices and you'll find us.

AN ABBREVIATED NEWSLETTER
This week's edition of the newsletter will be an abbreviated one, because the person who does the newsletter has been up to her elbows in putting food up for the winter.  Yes, time is ticking for those of us who like to act like squirrels, storing food away to be enjoyed all winter long.

But never fear, even if you haven't squirreled away any food, you can still Eat Well all winter long by visiting the market to see what yummy foods our vendors provide.  You will be able to Eat Well from morning till night, starting with bacon, eggs, and toast with jam for breakfast, moving on to a grilled cheese sandwich and a salad for lunch, ending the day with a hardy supper of ham, potatoes, and some winter squash, and finishing with a yummy dessert.  We've got you covered.

NOTICES
  • Angela's Homemade Pies will not be at market this week.  Jenny will return next week.
  • You will probably want to stock up on jam from Jo the Jam Lady this week.  Jo will be at market this Friday, but she will not return again until November 8.

SPECIAL REQUEST
Hanging flower baskets: Shady Grove Farm, our newest vendor who supplies the market with wonderful eggs, meats, and produce, asked us to include a special request in the newsletter.  They are going to be conducting an experiment to grow winter green beans in their greenhouse.  To do so, they need quite a few hanging flower baskets.  If you have any hanging around in your basement or shed and would like to have them put to good use please bring them to market this week or over the next few weeks.  Wouldn't it be great to have green beans in the winter, and to know you had a part in making this happen?

REMINDERS
While some of you are long-time readers of the newsletter, people who are new to the market are reading the newsletter for the first time; therefore, the Reminders section is included each week so new folks can see what's happening around the market and around town.

Winter Market:  Although a couple more weeks remain of the summer market, we are busily working on the planning of the winter market.  Some changes will take place which we believe will enhance the overall market.  We are in the final stages of planning and will be including updates in future newsletters, detailing all the specifics.  So, please stay tuned!
