Lettuce Eat Well Farmers' Market is held inside year-round for your shopping comfort at Cheviot United Methodist Church 3820 Westwood Northern Blvd. 45211. The market is held in the church's Narthex, which is just inside the main entrance of the church. Please note that this location could vary depending on other activities taking place at the church. Follow the happy voices and you'll find us.
What's on Your Wish List?
Periodically I like to check in with our customers to inquire about what additional items
they would like to see at LEWFM. It's time again to do that. Remember, the market exists because of you; therefore, we want to ensure we make available the items you most want. Our wish is to make it even more convenient for you to do the majority of your shopping at LEWFM by providing you with a more complete lineup of products.
It would help us a lot if you would take a few minutes to reply to this email or stop by my booth at market to let me know what is on your Wish List. Simply recall what you currently purchase elsewhere, items that if we had them at LEWFM you would purchase from our local producers. Your suggestions/requests will also help me as I make plans for the Winter Market vendor lineup. Thank you in advance for helping us make a great market even better by including even more of your favorite items! Of course I can't offer a guarantee that I'll be able to add all your favorites but I'll do my utmost to include them.

NOTICES
COMING SOON!
Produce from Our Harvest Cooperative
Beginning next week, I will be selling synthetic chemical free produce grown by our local farmers of Our Harvest Cooperative. As market manager I want to ensure our customers have abundant choices; therefore, I keep an eye out for when it's time to bring additional items into the market. I do this while also ensuring that there is very little overlap in products, thus allowing all vendors to be successful. I will coordinate with our produce vendors to primarily sell items that they don't currently have available.
I will have more complete details about selling OHC produce in next week's newsletter. Just an FYI: most of the items will be pre-order. If you are not familiar with our pre-order program or are not yet on the pre-order email list, see details in the Previously Announced section.
The Return of Green GRRL Wisdom
For all of you who have asked for soap at our market and the return of Green GRRL Wisdom (aka Karen Blocher), with her plethora of handcrafted items, your wait is almost over. Karen will be returning to LEWFM beginning on October 14. For a sneak peek of what is in store for you when she returns, check out her website https://www.greengrrrlwisdom.com/
Pork Update: As of this writing, I do not have a definite date regarding when Mahlon's pork will be ready. He informed me that he is still waiting for the butcher to finish the curing, cutting, and packaging. The finished product will certainly be worth the wait. Stay tuned for more updates on the pork.
RECENTLY ADDED
Each week many of our vendors expand their lineup of offerings at our market. Chef Gary The Pickled Pig makes a different type of hummus each week, along with his ever-expanding selection of fermented veggies and beverages, all of which taste yummy and are good for your tummy. Jo the Dough Lady just loves to receive your feedback so she can make exactly what you want. Jenny the Pie & Much More Lady uses many locally sourced produce items in her products; therefore, her offerings change by the season. Of course, our produce farmers' selections are ever changing, thus providing you with a variety of nutrient-dense veggies. And that is just a small sampling of what awaits you each Friday at LEWFM.

Pre-ordering Pays Off
Have you ever arrived at market to purchase your favorite item/s from your favorite vendor/s only to be disappointed because the vendor/s sold out of the item/s? Did you know that no longer has to happen? At LEWFM you can pre-order your items and pick them up any time during regular market hours. Pre-ordering not only pays off for you, it also helps the vendors know how much to prepare/harvest, which greatly reduces waste. Pre-ordering is a real win-win for all, and it only takes a few minutes of your time to plan ahead and place your order. Given the importance of Eating Well, getting into the habit of placing your pre-orders each week will likely become a high priority on your weekly To Do List.
There are two easy ways you can place your pre-orders: in person at market or via email. Here's how the email ordering works: Email me at LEWFMLOCAL@GMAIL.COM and ask to be added to the vendor email pre-order list. Each week you will receive emails from the vendors detailing the items they have available for you to order that week. Reply to their email, letting them know the items you wish to order, then come to market on Friday to pick up your items.

Produce Perks
For those who noticed the logo at the bottom of the newsletter recently and wondered what it means, here is the good news about a new program. Produce Perks is an incentive program that is meant to encourage and help those who receive EBT (formerly known as food stamps) purchase more produce. Produce Perks is a dollar for dollar match (up to $10), with the matching dollars used on produce. The Produce Perks website offers the following additional information:
Please help us spread the word about this very worthwhile program. One way to help get the word out is to stop by the market management booth to pick up brochures to share with those you know who receive EBT benefits. You could also leave brochures at your church, doctor or dentist's office, or any locations that would permit you to do so. “Produce Perks” is an initiative modeled after a similar program in Cuyahoga County. Focus is on access and affordability of healthy fruits and vegetables for under-served consumers.
Produce Perks are incentive tokens given to customers at participating farmers’ markets who use an Ohio Direction Card (“electronic benefits transfer” or EBT card) to purchase food. A customer wishing to use their food assistance benefits can swipe their card at one central terminal, located at participating market’s information booths, and ask to withdraw a desired amount. The market provides tokens for the transaction and additional Produce Perks that can be spent on fruits and vegetables. As the name suggests, Produce Perks are only good for purchasing fruits and vegetables. All other tokens purchased with the Ohio Direction Card are good to use on eligible items at the market.
