If you've been wishing that Green GRRRL Wisdom, aka Karen Blocher, Certified
Herbalist, would offer larger size soaps, your wish has come true. Karen informed us that beginning this week she will have your favorite soaps in a larger size. In addition, she will have the shampoo bar in the larger size. This week Karen also unveils her newest soap, Lavender Alkanet. If you are unfamiliar with Alkanet, Karen's explanation below will assure you that it's not some artificial chemical concoction; rather, it is a plant-based colorant.

I was toying around with colorants, and started with a simple bar of Alkanet soap, along with a lavender version of that Alkanet soap. Alkanet is a root that infuses into oil and makes a bright, almost crimson red-colored oil. When it saponifies in soap, though, it turns shades of blue and purple during the curing process, finally settling into a light purple in these batches.
We also received an update from Ame of Fox Run Farm and Learning Center. They will have pork again this week. Ame said they will also have a limited amount of greens, along with maybe chinese cabbage. More produce will be forthcoming each week due to the hard work of Ame and her Interns. We're sending them a great big THANK YOU for their efforts in providing us with such nutritious foods so we can Eat Well.
