THIS WEEK'S HIGHLIGHT
Many types of Summer Squash
Rather than highlight a vendor, this week we are highlighting the products.  The saying goes, "A picture is worth a thousand words."  This week we let the pictures speak, and these pictures speak volumes.

Gorgeous Flowers

In addition to being able to purchase the healthiest of produce, you can also brighten up your home with beautiful flowers.

RECENTLY ADDED
For those of you who were disappointed last week because you wanted Summuh Hummus, Ethan has promised he will be bringing a larger supply this week.  During his first day at our market last Friday he sold out by 5:30.  I think he underestimated how popular his homemade Hummus would be.  That's a great problem to have.

 SEASONAL & CHANGING PRODUCTS/ITEMS
Our vendors' tables continue to overflow with plentiful produce:  heirloom tomatoes, a plethora of peppers, including cayenne, green chili, banana, and bell, summer squash, beets, tomatillos, zucchini, kohlrabi, ground cherries, and for the first time this season, eggplant.  Come to market and be pleasantly surprised with what additional items turn up unexpectedly on harvest day.

If you would like to purchase quantities of canning tomatoes for $25 half bushel, pre order them by calling (812) 233-7990.

Our customers tell us they like it when we include recipe ideas in the newsletter, so here's a very simple way to prepare beets.

Wash and peel the beets, then shred them.  Saute to desired tenderness in butter.  Watch closely as it takes only a short time.  The result is such a delicious and sweet dish that you might even save it for dessert.  Tip:  It is suggested that you prepare extra because this dish is great leftover, cold or warmed slightly.  Enjoy!

With our Outdoor Market in full swing, we have ready made food available now. The sandwiches are great for a treat while you shop or as a take-home dinner for your family!

GRILLING BY LOGAN:  Weather permitting, Logan, of Mohr Animal Acres, will be grilling a variety of their meats.

The line at the Mohr Animal Acres and Grilling By Logan booth testifies to their popularity.

REMINDER
Remember to stock up on your eggs, meats, and other items from Mohr Animal Acres while they are at market this week.  Mohrs will not be at market on August 3 and August 10, as they will be at their county fair.  We suggest you ask them this week what weeks they will attend our market during the month of August.  Or, you can get their contact info from their website  http://mohranimalacres.biz/News.html

DID YOU KNOW?
National Farmers' Market Week this year is August 5 through August 11.  To celebrate, our market will be having a really big splash during our regular market hours on August 10.  In addition to all our regular Very Valued Vendors, we have a line up of special guest vendors that is sure to offer something for everyone.  Complete details will be included in future newsletters.

Because of all the special events and guest vendors that day we will need extra volunteers.  If you have any time to spare between the hours of 2:00 and 7:30 we will surely be able to use your help and support.  Even if you can help out for only an hour or two, all help will be greatly appreciated.  You can volunteer by clicking on the link below, or simply talk with us at market this week.

Anyone looking to vend at our Market can also contact us with the link below.
