While the market's year round location is Cheviot United Methodist Church 3820 Westwood Northern Blvd. 45211, the location at the church varies depending on other activities at the church and depending on the weather (sunny and warm, we're outside; stormy or cold, we're inside). Just follow the happy voices and you'll find us.
The spotlight is shining on Jo Hartley, aka Jo the Jam Lady. This week Jo will be celebrating Spring in a big way by adding two new selections to her array of yummy jams. Her first addition she calls "Spring" Rhubarb, and she describes it as "having a surprise kick." The other sounds equally as delicious: Carrot cake jam, which is packed full of yummy, nutritious ingredients. Jo says that it will taste like carrot cake, the best of all sweet worlds.
When you stop by Jo's booth to check out the new jams, you will also notice that she makes homemade granola. And as a way to outdo herself, she makes homemade whole wheat noodles, purchasing the wheat berries from Carriage House Farm (a vendor at LEWFM), then mills them into flour to make the freshest noodles you'll find anywhere. Yes, that's our Jo, always aiming to please, and always hitting the mark. In addition to being quite busy in the kitchen, Jo has also been very busy outside. She recently planted blueberry, raspberry, and blackberries in her yard. Looks like we need to clone her so we can all have a Jo around our home.

LETTUCE LIVE MORE SUSTAINABLY
Basics of Backyard Gardening, and many other informative workshops:
Now that Spring is in the air are you giving some thought to starting a garden? Do you have children whom you would like to introduce to the fun of picking veggies right in their own yard? Do you not know the first thing about how to get started? Fret no more because help is on the way. This Saturday, April 13 there will be a day-long conference tailor made for those who are eager to get started gardening.
If growing your own food is not for you at this time, there will be a total of 12 workshops from which to choose: Eating Local Year Round, Cooking Without Waste, and Fermenting Foods, are only a small sample of the informative topics. In addition to the workshops, Gary Cox, General Council to the Farm to Consumer Legal Defense Fund will be giving the keynote on "Give Local Food a Chance." The conference is being presented by the Southwest Chapter of OEFFA (Ohio Ecological Food and Farm Association). For more information you may visit their website here.

Great deal for gardeners: Limited time offer has been extended!
There are times when something that seems too good to be true is actually true. Granny's Garden School in Loveland is sharing their good fortune. They recently received a donation of Garden Claws to be used for fund raising. Usually selling for $25 - $30, Granny's Garden is offering them for $20, half of which will go to Granny's Garden School and, if you use code "LEWFM" when placing your order, the other $10 will go to Lettuce Eat Well Farmers' Market. If you are unfamiliar with how awesome the garden claw is, watch the demonstration video here.
