Some customers have asked us when we will be moving back to Harvest Home Park; therefore, we realize that not everyone has been made aware that we will be staying at Cheviot United Methodist Church throughout the summer. Please help us spread the word about the market's correct location!
While
the market's year round location is Cheviot United Methodist Church
3820 Westwood Northern Blvd. 45211, the location at the church varies
depending on other activities at the church and depending on the weather
(sunny and warm, we're outside; stormy or cold, we're inside). Just
follow the happy voices and you'll find us.

This week there are so many things to highlight that we almost need two newsletters to fit it all in. Let's start with the picture above. In case you can not read all the words held by our Very Valued Vendors, here's what they are saying: "Thanks for making us #1 in Ohio and #4 in the USA." And the front row says: "Celebrate with us September 20th." This coming Friday we will be celebrating both the market vendors and YOU, the market customers, because it was your votes that won the honors for the market in the American Farmland Trust's I Love My Farmers' Market Campaign. The purpose of the campaign was to call attention to the disturbing fact that in the U.S. we are losing huge amounts of valuable farm land on a continual basis. In an attempt to counteract this, the public was asked to pledge to spend at least $10 per week at their farmers' market, with each pledge being counted as a vote for their market.
As a way to thank you, we have planned a gigantic special event to be held during regular market hours on September 20th. We have invited those who have participated as Special Guest Vendors at previous special events, along with some newcomers we are very excited about. Here's the run down: Jackie Millay will be demonstrating Tai Chi, with musical accompaniment by our very own Charles Purdue, Steve Rock and the gang from Lighthouse Youth Services will be teaching the simple steps to vermicomposting (as well as selling castings), folks from Hillside Community Garden will be sharing information about their program, 1 Small Garden will be bringing a portable version of their raised bed, United Way will have some cool giveaways, and Deborah Jordon from CORV (Central Ohio River Valley local food guide) will be distributing free copies of CORV. And if their schedule permits we're hopeful that SavetheRainDrops will be sharing info about rain barrels (and perhaps even have some to sell that day) .
And, never before seen at our market (and we're pretty sure not at any market yet), we will be welcoming the guys involved in the development of the innovative GoSun Solar Stove. We are hugely excited about this because this invention fits so well with one of the major focuses of our market, helping people live more sustainably. Following is a bit of info from GoSun to whet your appetite for more information, and the yummy food they will be cooking up right at market.
We're not done yet. In addition to all the above Special Guest Vendors, several music groups will be at market this week to entertain, providing some fun, toe-tapping music. And, thanks to Eclectic Comfort Food Truck, you will be able to purchase ready made food at market this week. So come hungry and stay late to learn, shop, visit, and Eat Well.
Last but certainly not least, celebrating the success of the market would not be complete without offering a huge thank you to the folks at Cheviot United Methodist Church. We are so grateful for their generosity, providing us with a year round, indoor and outdoor space in which to hold market. They are also great promoters of the market, using their marque to advertize LEWFM, putting articles about the market in their newsletter, and just in general making market day run smoothly through their assistance. We love you Juanita, Pastor Kerry, and All at Cheviot UMC!

The GoSun Stove is a versatile and powerful little solar cooker that can cook a meal in only 20 minutes, safely sizzling at up to 550 degrees F and all without the use of fuel. This revolutionary product is the lightest, fastest, easiest, and most efficient on the market. Additionally, the GoSun Stove team aims to reduce the use of dirty fuels such as wood and charcoal for cooking. This will help decrease respiratory illnesses, restore forests, and save critical resources for impoverished families around the world.
