Newsletter for Friday October 19, 2012

THIS WEEK'S HIGHLIGHT
This week we want to draw your attention to our Summer into Winter Market Transition Event, which will begin during market on Friday October 26th.  We want to assure that everyone knows that LEWFM is a year-round market; therefore, we are planning many activities to encourage you to support our Very Valued Vendors throughout the entire year.  If you click on the image above you can see a preview of some of the fun things we have planned, including a halloween costume contest, trick or treat for the kids, and even trick or treat for the adults (using your LEWFM bag).  And, at the end of the market day the last Friday of each month, Nov. through April, one lucky shopper will win $20 in Market Bucks.  We won't give away all the secrets this week, so check next week's newsletter for more details.

  • Free Movie Screening of "The Future of Food"  This film examines the dangers of unlabeled, untested, and potentially unsafe genetically engineered foods and how they have quietly filled the shelves of America's grocery stores.  Following the film, the producer/director Deborah Koons Garcia will be joining us for a question and answer session.  This free event, sponsored by Food & Water Watch and Ohio Ecological Food and Farm Association, is being held at the Esquire Theater, 320 Ludlow Ave. Clifton (Cin.) 45220, this Thursday, October 18, 2012.  Doors open at 7:00 P.M., movie begins at 7:30.

SEASONAL & CHANGING PRODUCTS/ITEMS
Our Very Valued Vendors tap into their creativity to continue to bring customers wholesome and delicious food items, using locally sourced ingredients whenever possible.  They welcome your questions regarding the superior ingredients they use and the great lengths they go to in order to help your Eat Well and Live a More Sustainable Life.  And, the chilly weather does not mean the end of produce.  The tomatoes and peppers have been holding on (so far, thanks to the extra steps the growers have been taking to protect them), and the cool weather crops are loving these Autumn days.  We've been seeing Swiss chard, Chinese lettuce, Romaine lettuce, herbs (both dried and fresh), along with numerous kinds of dried veggies and fruits.  The farmers also delight customers with some additional surprises awaiting them on harvest day.

For a full listing of our vendors, their services, and products, including:
