THIS WEEK'S HIGHLIGHT
After weeks in the planning, the time for the Summer Into Winter Market Transition Event has come.  This week we will both wind down and gear up, Transitioning from the Summer Outdoor Market to the Winter Indoor Market.  This will be our final week for the season at Harvest Home Park; but, because LEWFM is a year round market you will be able to Eat Well and Live a More Sustainable Life throughout the winter by following the vendors to their winter home at Cheviot United Methodist Church beginning November 2.

First, though, we have loads of fun in store for everyone this week.  In addition to all the delicious and healthy foods, and the numerous environmentally conscious craft items (including some new craft vendors), market goers, both kids and adults, will be able to participate in various activities.  Kids can stop by the Market Management booth to get their treat:  the Munch Crunch Bunch book, thanks to the generous donation of the author, Jan Wolterman, and a Market Buck which they can spend at any of the vendor booths.  The kids can also enjoy seeing farm animals from Mohr Animal Acres.

The fun is not only for the kids.  Adults can get in on the fun also.  We will have a market scavenger hunt that will take you to each of the vendor booths, giving you an idea of all the great items that will be available at the market throughout the winter.

Adults will also be able to participate in Treat or Treat at the market.  Just take your LEWFM insulated market bag to each vendor and you will receive your treat (or trick?).  Don't yet have an LEWFM bag?  No problem:  You can purchase one for $7.00 at the Market Management booth.  The bags are constructed of heavy duty material, have a reinforced bottom and zippered top and can be used for any occasion where you want to keep cold foods cold or hot foods hot (think holiday foodie gatherings).

There will also be a halloween costume contest for both adults and kids.  Prizes will be awarded for the costume contests, as well as the other contests.  So, come one, come all and join in the fun.

VERY SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT
We are very pleased to announce that we now accept Food Stamps at our market.  If you would like to use your food stamp benefits to purchase items at our market simply bring your EBT card to the Market Management Booth.

We hope everyone will help us spread the word about this great news.  Please share the information with neighbors, friends, and co-workers so food stamp beneficiaries will become aware that they can now purchase fresh produce and other healthy food items at the Farmers' Market, directly from the people who produce the foods.

SEASONAL & CHANGING PRODUCTS/ITEMS
Some produce items are still hanging on in spite of the chilly weather.  We thank our Produce Vendors for their continued efforts at extending the growing season, thus providing us with healthy, wholesome foods.

You will notice some new faces (and products) beginning this week as additional craft vendors will be joining the market.  More information about them and their products will be added to the newsletter each week, so keep checking in to see what cool things are unfolding at market.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Some questions to ponder:  Where does my food actually come from?  What really goes into my food?  Do I really know the complete answers to these questions?  Purchasing food from vendors at LEWFM (and asking them about their production process) can help you become more familiar with what goes into your food.  Another way to know what goes into your food is to grow some of it yourself.  In a previous newsletter we suggested you might want to join with others in your neighborhood and take on the growing of food as a fun project, for both adults and kids.  Autumn is a good time to start thinking about and learning more, because planning is an important first step.  The following website, complete with videos, can help inspire and inform you in this undertaking:  http://www.growingcitiesmovie.com/videos.php

Please share this newsletter with friends and family to help spread the word about LEWFM!
Our Very Valued Vendors will be at market from 3:00 - 7:00 rain or shine and they hope you will be there too.
