The Rock Guys and their fans

THIS WEEK'S HIGHLIGHT
This week we are shining the spotlight on the market's non-food vendors; and, just in  time for those of you who are looking for a unique, one of a kind gift.  We start with the Rock Guys, whose crystals and other gems light up the eyes of young and old alike.  Customers of all ages gravitate to the wide array of quartz, wavelitte, Herkimer diamonds, geodes, and many other beautiful "rocks."
Garnet, January birthstone
The dynamic duo, brothers Chuck and Danny Reckman, spend their vacations digging for crystals and other "rocks."  They can tell you the very location where they dug each item.  And, if you want any background or further information about a particular item, they usually have their reference books with them for customers to peruse.  If you or someone you know has a January birthday, you can check out the various rocks they have that contain Garnets (pictured here).

If rocks are not in your future, how about a handcrafted rug?  If you are looking for a quality crafted rug, both functional and beautiful, at a truly reasonable price look no further than Yellow Creek WeaversOra's Pottery is another vendor who provides both functional and beautiful items.  And, at the Tree Hugger booth you will find synthetic chemical free soaps and other personal care products and household cleaners, lovely soy candles, doggie treats, and bird seed wreaths, plus a few other surprises.  They never seem to run out of new ideas to please their customers.

We round out our non food vendors with Charles Purdue.  Charles is loved by all at the market.  In addition to a plethora of handcrafted flutes, cutting boards, rolling pins, and other unique items, Charles is a magnet for kids who love to hang out with him in The Kids Korner.  Parents whose kids hate to go to the grocery store love coming to the Farmers' Market so they can spend time in The Kids Korner with Charles.  The Market Management wishes to offer a heartfelt thank you to Charles for all his help with the children and his kindness in helping with other market related chores.

In addition to all the non food items available for purchase, the food vendors will be at market with all their healthy, delicious food choices.  Would you like to dazzle your friends and relatives by cooking items made from local ingredients from the Farmers' Market?  Doing so can be a way to help spread the word about the benefits of eating items grown close to home:  delicious and nutritious, while also lowering your carbon  footprint.  There's no need to eat foods that have traveled thousands of miles when you can purchase foods grown locally.

REMINDER
Remember to fill out your free raffle ticket each week at the Market Management booth.  At the end of market day the last Friday of each month during the winter market (Nov. through April) we will draw a ticket and the lucky customer will win $20 in Market Bucks, which they can use at any of the vendor booths (no expiration date).  And, as a way to introduce more people to LEWFM, customers who bring new folks to the market will receive one additional raffle ticket for each new person they "bring" to the market (they don't actually have to come in your car.)

DID YOU KNOW?
A weekly Farmers' Market takes work, LOTS of work.  If you can help out in any way it will take some of the burden off the overworked (volunteer) Market Managers.  If you're available to lend a hand at the Market any time between 2:00pm and 7:30pm on Fridays, or during the week for more behind the scenes activities, check out the link below to contact us!

Anyone interested in being a vendor may also contact us with the link below.
