If you've wondered how you can include sustainably raised meat into your family's meals at an affordable price, you are invited to stop by the Mohr Animal Acres booth and ask about their meat CSA. Being part of a meat CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) is a way to have access to healthy meat, and save money on your meat bill.
By joining a meat CSA, you are helping support our local family farm while providing your family with a healthy and nutritious source of meat. You are allowing us the guarantee that our meats will be sold and more easily let us plan for what our future needs will be. In return, you get a guaranteed amount of meat at a great deal that is raised without all of the hormones and antibiotics that have become a standard in the growing practices of many of the large factories farms. You can eat knowing that your meat came from animals that were allowed to roam pastures, eat grass, breath fresh air and generally lead a happy life. [from Mohr Animal Acres website]They attend market every other week. They will be at market this week, and February 22, and every other week there after. For more information about their farm and their meat CSA you can visit their website here.

LETTUCE LIVE MORE SUSTAINABLY
This week's sustainability spotlight shines on one of our vendors, The Treehuggers, Julia and Tammy. When we talk with our vendors about the importance of Living a More Sustainable Life, they listen. The Treehuggers go to great lengths to assure their products are sustainable, including the packaging. They offered the following information regarding their product line:
AND THE LUCKY WINNER IS...
January's winner of $20 in Market Bucks is Juanita Woodburn. It was fun to watch Juanita go from vendor to vendor, spending her winnings.
If you would like a chance to win $20 in Market Bucks, stop by the Market Management booth to fill out your free raffle ticket
each week throughout the winter market (through April). And, if you
bring a new person to market you will receive an additional free raffle
ticket that week. The last Friday of each month we will draw a ticket
at random. Winner need not be present at time of drawing.
Here at the Tree Hugger Company we strive to make eco-friendly products. Thanks, Treehuggers, for all you do to help us Live More Sustainably!
Did you know all the paper bags we use are made from recycled paper?
Also, the tin tie bags we use for the dog treats are biodegradable and compostable, minus the metal tie at the top, which is easily removable.
We wrap our soap in recycled paper that has not been bleached by chemicals.
The plastic bags we use for our bath teas and lavender sachets are made with corn plastic which is sustainable and biodegradable.
Our candles are made from American soy which is sustainable and friendly for the environment compared to its parrafin counterparts.
