RECENTLY ADDED ITEM
Have you been having trouble keeping warm this winter, even inside your house?  Has the
howling wind been coming in under your doors?  Susan, one of the market's most loyal customers, presented this dilemma to Mari Ann of Yellow Creek Weavers.  As the saying goes, "Necessity is the mother of invention."  We now have a new item at the market:  Door Cozy.  Mari Ann created a matching rug and door cozy for Susan and then decided to make additional ones so that other customers may avail themselves of these pretty and practical items.  She also takes orders so you can purchase a rug and/or door cozy in colors to match your decor.  The cost of the door cozy is $12.50.

For those who are not yet familiar with Yellow Creek Weavers, Mari Ann offered the following information:

Yellow Creek Weavers  is a local West Side business (Delhi).  Rugs are woven using a four harness oak loom made in Maysville, Kentucky.   There are three primary lines of rugs.  Rainbow rugs are made of sock tops dyed in all the colors of the rainbow.  These rugs are made of re-purposed all new sock tops.  The sock tops are dyed using a process that involves several rinses and a hot wash.  In addition, the sock tops are also available in our Purely Natural line with no dyes added.  Our other two lines, Plush and Traditional Rag rugs, also are made of re-purposed all new fiber.  All our products are made of materials produced by companies in the United States.   In other words, a Yellow Creek Weavers’ rug is 100% made in the USA.  New ventures include manufacturing of recycled bed linens as well as table cloths and napkins.  In addition, you will find the rugs are well manufactured using a triple finish process and are reasonably priced.
We invite you to stop by Yellow Creek Weavers booth and see for yourself what high quality and reasonable price made in the USA looks like.  We're sure you will be impressed.

VOTE FOR YOUR FAVORITE FARMERS' MARKET
VOTING ENDS THIS SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 17.
This is your chance to let Cincinnati know how much you love Lettuce Eat Well Farmers' Market.  You can do so by voting for the market in City Beat's Best of Cincinnati 2014.  Simply click on the link below and follow the directions.  You will find farmers' markets in the "Eats" category.  You will notice that Lettuce Eat Well Farmers' Market is not listed.  You can add it by clicking on Create Your Own.  You are not required to vote in all categories, so the voting process should take no more than a few minutes.  However, as you will see in the directions, in order for your "ballot" to be counted you are required to click SAVE in each category (even if you don't vote in the other categories).  To cast your vote click here. We thank you for your vote and for your continued support of LEWFM!

REMINDERS
While some of you are long-time readers of the newsletter, people who are new to the market are reading the newsletter for the first time; therefore, the Reminders section is included each week so new folks can see what's happening around the market and around town.

At the beginning of the winter market we made some changes in the way we are holding market.  This Friday Feb. 14 (3:00 - 6:00) will be what we are calling a Regular Market Day, while the following Friday February 21 (4:00 - 6:00) will be what we are calling Pre-order Pick Up Day.  To help everyone easily adjust to the changes, we offer the following check list of what to do at market this week:
  1. Purchase all your food and non food items as you regularly do from the full line up of vendors who will be present this Friday.
  2. Place your pre-orders with the two vendors who will be participating in the Pre-order Market Days.  Please note that you will be required to pay for your items at time of ordering, at which time you will receive a receipt for your pre-order.  We even made it easy to locate these vendors by placing them side by side at the beginning of the market space.
That's it.  That's all you need to do in order to get into the swing of things in our brand new, improved way of holding market.

Please note the new time of the Regular Winter Market Days is 3:00 until 6:00 P.M.

Time to sign up for the Eating Seasonally CSA.
Are you thinking about what you plan to fix for dinner  - this Summer?  Well, your farmers are and they need to hear from you.  The folks at the Romans Family Farm have been busy making preparations for an abundant harvest this coming season so as to provide customers with fresh, nutrient dense produce.  They are currently perusing the seed catalogs, deciding what seeds and in what quantity to order.  To ensure they order the correct amount, not too little as to run out of your favorite produce items and not too many as to have produce going to waste, they rely on knowing in advance what you, their customers, want.  This means it's that time again:  time to sign up for the Eating Seasonally CSA.

If you are looking for a way to feed your family fresh, nutrient dense produce joining Romans Family Farm Eating Seasonally CSA will fit the bill.  And, all their produce is grown using no synthetic chemicals.

There are so many advantages to belonging to a CSA, for the consumer, the farmer, and the Earth.  If you are new to the concept of a CSA an internet search will provide you with a plethora of information.  To learn more about the Romans Family Farm Eating Seasonally CSA or to sign up (while space is still available) visit the Eating Seasonally CSA Facebook page  https://www.facebook.com/pages/Eating-Seasonally-CSA/176990062341129
